Chiara Boschis Pira E. & Figli's Barolo "Mosconi" - one of the most representative labels of the winery. Nebbiolo grapes come from the "Mosconi" vineyard, the oldest cru owned by the Pira family which is located in Monforte d'Alba. Vines have an average age of 45 years, are located at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level and are planted on a typical Helvetian soil, characterized by calcareous clayey marls with some layers of silicon. The fermentation is spontaneous with the use of indigenous yeasts only, and is done in steel tanks with the cap emerged. The wine is aged for at least two years in small, lightly toasted French oak barrels. Subsequently the wine ages for one more year in bottle before being released for sale. Chiara Boschis E. Pira & Figli's "Mosconi" Barolo has a very intense red color with evident garnet red reflections, while the nose expresses an elegant and complex bouquet of red fruits such as cherry and berries, violet and rose petals, as well as tobacco, coffee and hints of underbrush. The taste is austere and elegant, powerful and supported by evident tannins, very persistent. grandibottiglie
"Very fresh, sweet raspberries with some floral undertones follow through to a full body with fine, creamy tannins that flow long and linear through the middle of the palate." James Suckling - 95p
"Cherry and plum fruit flavors are accented by vanilla, toast, hay, white pepper and tar notes in this expressive, solidly built Barolo, which is fluid, with a dense matrix of tannins shoring up the long finish, showing fine complexity, balance and length." Wine Spectator - 95p
