"Racy fruit with good depth of flavors. Ethereal despite the firm, savory tannins. Bright acidity pushes the flavors through the finish. Drink from 2028." James Suckling 94p
"Pretty aromatics of bramble, boysenberry, cool forest breezes and crushed chalk lift from the glass. The spherical palate is seriously intense yet shows classic Volnay elegance. This is a combination of two parcels, each at opposite ends of the appellation vinified separately. One is 45 years old and the other is 73." Tim Atkin 93p
"The terroir of the premier cru of les Mitans usually produces quite black fruity wines in their youth, but the 2023 version from the Lafarges shows a lovely mix of red fruit in its aromatics and flavors this year. The wine’s bouquet is a very pretty blend of red and black cherries, red plums, coffee bean, dark soil tones, pigeon, bonfire and just a touch of new oak. On the palate thew wine is pure, full-bodied and beautifully transparent in personality, with a sappy core of fruit, ripe, buried tannins seamless balance and a long, complex and beautifully energetic finish. This wine has great backend lift! (Drink between 2037-2085)" John Gilman 93p
