Anmeldelser
Chiara Boschis Pira E. & Figli's Barolo "Mosconi" - one of the most representative labels of the winery. Nebbiolo grapes come from the "Mosconi" vineyard, the oldest cru owned by the Pira family which is located in Monforte d'Alba. Vines have an average age of 45 years, are located at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level and are planted on a typical Helvetian soil, characterized by calcareous clayey marls with some layers of silicon. The fermentation is spontaneous with the use of indigenous yeasts only, and is done in steel tanks with the cap emerged. The wine is aged for at least two years in small, lightly toasted French oak barrels. Subsequently the wine ages for one more year in bottle before being released for sale. Chiara Boschis E. Pira & Figli's "Mosconi" Barolo has a very intense red color with evident garnet red reflections, while the nose expresses an elegant and complex bouquet of red fruits such as cherry and berries, violet and rose petals, as well as tobacco, coffee and hints of underbrush. The taste is austere and elegant, powerful and supported by evident tannins, very persistent. grandibottiglie

"Chiara Boschis has recently purchased more vineyards in the Mosconi cru located at a cool 370 meters in elevation in Monforte d'Alba. Sourcing its fruit from an organic 1.9-hectare parcel, the 2018 Barolo Mosconi is available in a slightly larger production of 9,000 bottles. This is terrific news for those who love the focus and precision that Chiara Boschis is known for. The Mosconi carries generous fruit weight and volume over a streamlined mouthfeel and tight tannins. The wine ends with fresh notes of blackberry, plum and wild rose." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 96p

"This Mosconi from Chiara Boschis comes from a calcareous marl soil at almost 400 metres above sea level. The wine is quite a dense ruby colour in the glass, with restrained forest floor scents and whiffs of rosemary, chocolate and wild red fruits. Filigreed and complex, the palate has a delicate attack, firm tannins and good density, with flavours of tar and plenty of violet and pomegranate. Biting and still austere but softened by the French barriques - where the wine ages for two years - it's not ready to drink now yet will evolve nicely." Decanter - 95p
