"The deeply-coloured wine from the old vines in the Lafarge parcel boasts a ripe plummy fruit in 2022, yet there is a saline mineral side and a hint of savoury, gamey complexity. This delicious wine has a nervy tension and the density and length to age nicely in the cellar. The grapes come from the three-quarters of a hectare planted relatively high on the slope – some are 70 years of age; they are destemmed and gently fermented to produce this exquisite wine." "Medium deep crimson. A fresh pinot nose, not too intense. A mid to dark raspberry fruit on the palate albeit with a certain crispness, a little wood at the back, but a complete and once again harmonious – my Lafarge word for the vintage – finish. Drink from 2030-2037." Jasper Morris 91-93p
"The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots is pretty and fine-boned, offering up aromas of cherries, petals, orange zest and raw cocoa, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and lively palate. The 2022 vintage was showing well during my annual barrel tasting chez Lafarge, emphasizing the charming, pretty side of the year. The team began picking on August 26, another early harvest. As usual, reds were destemmed, in some cases manually, and élevage is taking place in predominantly used barrels, with the Lafarge's habitual racking with aeration. The result is wines with a resolutely old-school style that have a good track record of evolving gracefully in the cellar." Wine Advocate 90-92
